Make no mistake about it -- I've been very open in my criticisms about the Big South Conference.
My sport is college basketball. My team is High Point University. And as a member in the league, I hawk-eye the conference to selfishly root for my team's best interests.
Would you expect that the league is very chummy with me, all things considered?
Maybe much to the surprise of yours, and certainly to my own, count me surprised when the Big South was so warm and welcoming at it's most recent conference tournament in Johnson City. From associate commissioner of communications Mark Simpson, all the way to Commissioner Sherika Montgomery, I have to give them a lot of credit for allowing me to cover the event and to have open lines of communications.
I'm hoping it was all genuine. And I really think it was.

Putting their graciousness to the test, commissioner Montgomery agreed to answer questions, that a critic like myself wanna know.
Why are they hosting their conference tournament in Johnson City, Tennessee?
Will the league look to expand from 9 members?
Has commissioner Montgomery ever heard or believe in "HPDS"?
Did commissioner Montgomery cheer for Gardner Webb to upset High Point?
What's a "CO-COY" about?
I admire the openness. It's refreshing that the commissioner herself, has a good sense of humor about it all.
Maybe we're newfound BFF's?!?!
